Almost Dead #1
Creative Team: Galaxy (W) Ryan Benjamin (A)
Synopsis: Somewhere between pure exhilaration and sheer terror
is Almost Dead! After having an accident on her way home to visit
her family, Sara Walker awakens to find that the world has changed.
Now she must travel up the Eastern Seaboard, using suppressed
survival skills she learned as a child, in hopes of reuniting with her
loved ones in the midst of a viral pandemic that has turned humans
into monsters. Set in modern-day 2005, Sara unites with old
acquaintances and new friends along the way, and her struggle to
survive will be both an unexpectedly exciting journey and an absolute
horror. Almost Dead is a new post-apocalyptic horror-drama adventure
about triumph, growth, and the resiliency of the human spirit that
redefines the genre, with its cinematic approach and attention to
detail. Relentlessly vicious, Almost Dead isn't your typical apocalyptic
story. Tying in conspiracy with historical flashbacks and showing how
perhaps everything we've learned in our textbooks has been altered over time.
Score: 5.0 (Very Good/Fine--I had high hopes for this comic especially cause the art is great. Originally it was going to be in the neutral pile but I read it again and disliked it even more. How does someone pass out 3 times during a zombie apocalypse and survive? How did she even make it that far? There were too many opportunities for her to get eaten. I just call this bullshit plot vs dumb luck. I will read issue 2 to see if it helps make sense for issue 1.)
Red Light #1
Creative Team: Sarah Cho (W) Priscilla Petraites (A)
Synopsis: A FUTURISTIC EROTIC THRILLER BEGINS!
Get ready for a red-hot futuristic erotic thriller that sits at the
intersection of sex and tech by exciting new writer Sarah Cho
and artist Priscilla Petraites. Lacy is an A.I. sex worker in a
futuristic Red Light District. And Lacy knows exactly what
her clients want - better than they know it themselves.
Housed in a high-tech brothel under the watchful eye of the
mysterious Mister, Lacy has little in her manufactured life
besides work. All that changes when she befriends Natalie,
an orphaned child who comes into her care. Now Lacy and
Natalie are on a mission to escape the Red Light District,
only to find themselves flung headlong into the mystery
behind Lacy's creation.
Score: 6.0 (Fine--This comic is personally not up my alley. It's pretty much about guys coming to a brothel to have sex with an A.I. chick [Lacy] who feels empathy. The writer & artist left a special message for readers.)

Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom Special #1
Creative Team: Tim Seeley, Joey Esposito, and Ethan Sacks (W) Jan Bazaldua & Miguel Mendonca, Ray-Anthony Height, and Scot Eaton (A)
Synopsis: Discover the shocking events that connect the smash-hit
Aquaman movie to the eagerly anticipated Aquaman and the Lost
Kingdom! Aquaman balances his duties as king and as a member
of the Justice League, all while planning a wedding! Black Manta
is on the hunt for Atlantean tech to help rebuild his armor! Orm plots
to escape his Atlantean prison! Three action-packed tales crammed
into a single special!
Score: 8.0 (Very Fine--This is pretty much for the Snyderverse fans &
the people who dislike the upcoming Gunnverse. They give us 3 stories
for $6.99 [I prefer $5.99 at the very least]. First story about Aquaman
of course about everything he's been doing until the new film comes
out. Also, get a lil Justice League cameo featuring Wonder Woman and
the Flash [I'm still not convinced that these 3 actors are gone, maybe
Erza]. The second story is about Black Manta preparing to go to war
with Aquaman. The last story is about Ocean Master.)
White Widow #1
Creative Team: Sarah Gailey (W) Alessandro Miracolo (A)
Synopsis: YELENA BELOVA RETURNS!
Superspy. Rogue agent. Shadow of the Black Widow. Yelena Belova
has been many things, but striking out as a hero in her own right is
new to her. Now that she's finally free to choose her own path, who
will she become? Sarah Gailey joins forces with Alessandro Miracolo
for a groundbreaking new chapter in the life of one of Marvel's most
enigmatic antiheroes.
Score: 5.0 (Very Good/Fine--I was originally going to put this in the
do not recommend pile but halfway through the story was interesting
only because I like hearing how businesses are destroying people's
lives like Amazon. It felt like the writer was trying to get a message
out to the public. Other than that the art is terrible. The random
Russian words and the translation boxes were a little difficult to find at times. Yelona is a little slow and she'll probably team up with Captain America around issue 3. I like how the dog is named after Hawkeye. Also, this Yelona is based on the MCU version personality-wise.)

Spider-Boy v2 #1
Creative Team: Dan Slott (W) Paco Medina (A)

After the events of THE END OF THE SPIDER-VERSE, Spider-Boy's secret history as Spider-Man's sidekick was nearly forgotten forever. But now those mysteries will be revealed while they embark on exciting new adventures...TOGETHER!
Score: 8.0 (Very Fine--Tons of awesome variants! The starting price is $5.99! A bunch of first appearances [Gutterball, Madame Monstrosity, and Balloon Man]! Buy this if you're a collector and like investing in comics. Comic wise the art is really good and it contains 2 stories. Action team-up between Spider-Pete & Spider-Boy and randomly learn more things about what Bailey can do differently power-wise from Peter & how he was created. Back-up story Bailey is hanging with Christina Wu & Squirrel Girl at the Thanksgiving Day parade.)
Return Of Superman 30th Anniversary Special #1
Creative Team: Dan Jurgens, Louise Simonson, Jerry Ordway, and Karl Kesel (W) Travis Moore, Dan Jurgens, Brett Breeding, Jon Bogdanove, Butch Guice, Tom Grummett, and Doug Hazlewood (A)
Synopsis: ORIGINAL CREATIVE TEAMS RETURN FOR NEW STORIES STARRING SUPERBOY, STEEL, THE ERADICATOR AND CYBORG SUPERMAN!
Superman returns! After the tragic events of more than 30 years ago, when Superman met his end at the hands of Doomsday, Metropolis mourned
the loss of their greatest hero and soon
turned their attention to the search for his
successor. Four Supermen rose to the
challenge: Superboy, Steel, Eradicator,
and Cyborg Superman. Each with their
own strengths and weaknesses, they
fought in honor of the original Man of Steel.
Little did they know, his return was just
around the corner! To celebrate the Reign
of the Supermen and the Return of
Superman, DC has brought back the original
creative teams for new stories set in the
wake of Superman's death. It all begins with
new Daily Planet editor-in-chief Lois Lane discovering Perry White's journals from the time and the secrets he kept as he searched for who could be the next Superman. What could this discovery mean for our present? Find out in this special that's sure to be a classic in the future!
Score: 4.0 (Very Good--Save your $10 unless you're a super Superman fan/completist.)
Ultimate Universe #1
Creative Team: Jonathan Hickman (W) Stefano Caselli (A)
Synopsis: THE SPOILS OF VICTORY!
After the worlds-shaking conclusion of ULTIMATE INVASION,
a new team of heroes bands together to save the future! Don't
miss out on this foundational issue for the new line of Ultimate
Comics!
Score: 4.0 (Very Good--I personally have never been a fan of the
Ultimate Universe because it's an alternate universe and irrelevant
to the main continuity but I understood its purpose. The art is great.
A lot of talking and not enough action or excitement for me to throw
out $6.99 for this. Pointless cash grab.)

Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War Scorched Earth #1
Creative Team: Chip Zdarsky, Tini Howard (W) Mike Hawthorne, Adriano Di Benedetto (A)
Synopsis: THE GOTHAM WAR ENDS HERE!
The final chapter of this epic crossover is here, and Batman and
his family must find a way to overcome the endgame of an
ancient enemy! Can the Bat and the Cat set their differences
aside? Is this the end of the Bat Family? Lives change forever
in this action-packed conclusion!
Score: 1.0 (Poor--If you have been reading this abysmal of a
story arc you should know by now not to waste your $6+ on this
comic unless you're a variant whore and even then I don't
recommend that cuz that's how we end up with so many shitty
comics these days! Signs, when a comic sucks, are when the
story doesn't even finish in its own main series. It's the publisher's
way of damage control. For example, Tom King said he was going
to do 100 issues for Batman. Batman sales were too low but they let Tom finish his Bat & Cat story in that 12-issue Batman/Catwoman mini-series. Anyway, this comic is so offbeat I'm letting you read the entire issue here for free [money wise]!)
P.S.- Mike Hawthorne does amazing pencil work but it gets ruined between the inker & colorist.
Supergirl Special #1
Creative Team: Mariko Tamaki (W) Skylar Patridge (A)
Synopsis: GIRL INTERRUPTED!
After joining the Superman Family and their heroic efforts in
Metropolis, Kara thought she had found her place in the world.
But there's only room in town for one Supergirl, and Power Girl's
sudden reappearance has made her redundant. Her identity and
role are both in question as she looks for answers. Will they lead
her out of the city or out of this world?
Score: 3.0 (Good/Very Good--Another comic I had high hopes for.
I like the coloring but I dislike the slice-of-life-looking art even though
that's what this issue was. The highlight of this story was Supergirl &
Power Girl eat their cupcakes like Anne Hathaway[that's my boo].)
