Geekpin Entertainment
Hey geeks and geekettes! Geekpin Entertainment is here with another Black Comic Spotlight for Black Heritage Month! Today I'm going to talk about a Black Superhero from Marvel you may not know about or forgot.
Back To
Derrick Beacon aka Beacon debuted in Marvel's Creators Choice: X-Men #1
exclusively to Pizza Hut.
Beacon was tricked by Mister Sinister into believing that mutants were bad after his powers developed. Sinister then had Beacon lured the X-Men into his grasp. When the X-Men arrived at Montclair High School, they
found out that Derrick was losing control of
his powers and cutting off the airways of
various bystanders. The X-Men (except
Jubilee who was in hiding) were captured by
Mister Sinister. Jubilee told Beacon being a
mutant was something to celebrate not
something to be ashamed of. Derrick then
told her that his friends and classmates
hated him for being a mutant but Jubilee
reminded Beacon that they weren't very
good friends to begin with.
Beacon helped Jubilee
rescued the X-Men and
defeated Mr. Sinister. Gambit
offer Beacon to join Xavier's
School but declined so that
he could focus on finishing
