Salutations geekettes and geeks, this Halloween weekend was Baltimore Comic Con. This was our first year there since Pre-covid. I'm gonna come right out the gate and say I was a little disappointed because CGC Comics
wasn't doing on-site grading. That's one of the
charms about going to Baltimore Comic-Con
it's one of the only cons CGC did it for. CGC
was doing a giveaway. If you post a photo and
follow CGC on their social media you get to
enter a drawing. If you pull a 10-pin you win
a free signature series graded comic. Pull a
9.9 you win a CGC hat and hoodie and a 9.8
pin gets you nothing.
The other great thing about Baltimore Comic
Con is the guest. It's one of the biggest comic
conventions that strictly focus on comic books
and comic creators and not heavily catered to
guest celebrities like San Diego and New York
Comic-Con. If I'm not mistaken the biggest
celebrities were some Disney Princesses voice
actresses and John Leguizamo (who is super
nice and wish I could've drunk with). Jim Lee
(Friday Only) and Frank Miller (Saturday Only) were the two big comic guests and if I'm not mistaken they were rollovers from not making it last year. A lot of great comic and collectible vendors (we miss you, Zapp, see you in a few weeks) such as Captain Chuck's Comics, Lazy Eye Collectibles, Shortboxed,
Jason Hamlin Comics, and our host Cards,
Comics and Collectibles. One of the places
I personally don't like normally going to is
Artist Alley because it gives me PTSD of
playing the second map of World-8 for
Super Mario Bros 3. But I had to go because
there were a few artists I wanted to support
such as Gus Mauk, Franck Uzan, Criss Madd
(got a nice-ass Moon Knight print from him),
and Jason Metcalf.
For the most part, this wasn't a bad comeback from covid. I can tell you the rumor is CGC will be doing on-site grading next year so I'm definitely looking forward to next year. Hopefully, Todd McFarlane will show too. He hasn't been to Baltimore Comic-Con since Image United. That's it for my review next you're in Baltimore check out Game On and Fat Patties. Thanks for reading, stay geeky, gang.
