Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and comic-book author Michael Chabon (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Klay, Michael Chabon Presents The Adventures of The Escapist) has been named showrunner for the upcoming CBS All Access series Star Trek: Picard after joining the writing staff for the show in November of 2018.
The new series, in which Sir Patrick Stewart will reprise one of his most famous roles of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, which will follow the next chapter in the legendary starship captain’s life and is set to debut later this year and is the latest of series that CBS is rolling out to build up a new “Star Trek” TV universe. Hanelle Culpepper will direct the first two episodes of the series.
“Picard” will air exclusively on CBS All Access in the United States and will be distributed concurrently internationally by CBS Studios International on Amazon Prime Video and in Canada on Bell Media’s cable networks, Space and Z, and OTT service Crave.
