Review: FYI I thought this was going to be your typical Christmas romance film & I missed the first few minutes and didn't realize the main character Rachel's parents was throwing a party to celebrate the anniversary of the night they met.

So like I said missed the beginning where Rachel's parents met. I started watching when Rachel was picking up donuts from the bakery and trying to get them to her parents' house. She ended up bumping into some guy and dropped all her donuts & her bf told her he couldn't make it. By the time everyone else shows up at Rachel’s parent’s house, the entire family knows that her boyfriend has blown her off and there are no donuts (I didn't know why these donuts were so important at first), thanks to her mother being a little overactive in the family group chat. Being annoyed by her day & family she becomes even more annoyed when Grandma Rosie (witch) brings the guy (Zach aka the Christmas love interest I originally referred to him as) who caused Rachel to lose the donuts as a guest to secretly hook Rachel up with. Zach teaches art at Rosie’s nursing home and he gives her a lift to the party. On top of everything happening, Rachel is depressed about her life and this being the last Hanukkah she’ll be spending in her childhood home, now that her parents are downsizing and moving to a condo. Grandma Rosie gifts her a dreidel that has been in the family for generations, and when Rachel gives it a spin at the party, the room catches fire. Once the fire is put out, she goes to bed, and when she wakes up… BOO-YAH, it’s the same day. She starts to go through the deja vu phase and realizes halfway through she's not crazy and is living the same day over again. Rachel confides in Zach and he says he would help her get out of the time loop. So the adventure begins with Rachel trying several different things to break the time loop with the help of Zach & his best friend who owns a comic book store (which doesn't look like one). Not going to tell you how it ends but it's a nice movie with some geeky references. Once she went into Groundhog Day mode the movie had my attention and I stayed to finish it.

If you like the Groundhog Day movie or fantasy movies in general you should definitely check out Round and Round. It's also LGBT-friendly. I like how the story made Hanukkah a mystical time (meaning like a solar alignment from my nerdy point of view) in the end. I like how some of the characters were comparing themselves to the characters in Groundhog Day. Zach called himself Andie MacDowell and Rachel told him he's the alarm clock.

This movie will be back on the Hallmark channel on Dec 13, 2023, at 10 pm EST.

Score: 9.0 (Very Fine/Near Mint)

Movie Review:

Round and Round

Ello geeks & geekettes! So last night while visiting my parents I saw an interesting Hallmark movie about Hanukkah called Round & Round. Before I get started I want to give a shout to Ocean City Comic Con because if I didn't attend I wouldn't go to my parent's house to give my dad salt water taffy and watch this movie.

Synopsis: Rachel’s stuck in a time loop, reliving the night of her parents’ Hanukkah party. Can Zach, the “nice boy” Grandma’s trying to set her up with, help her make it to tomorrow? Starring Vic MichaelisBryan Greenberg, and Rick Hoffman.
